Every Year West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) organises WBJEE for selecting candidates for admission into undergraduate courses of Engineering, Technology, Architecture and Pharmacy in various institutions spreading across West Bengal. However, the WBJEEB has been given the status of Statutory Body which conducts common, combined and competitive entrance examination for admission into undergraduate courses. WBJEE is held on Mathematics (paper 1) and Physics and Chemistry (Paper 2). Here is detailed information about WBJEE.

Eligibility Criteria

Students who will appear for Higher Secondary Examination in the current year, or had passed H. S the previous year with Science subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are eligible for WBJEE. Any Indian student can take up this examination. The candidates need not submit any domicile certificate. The lower age limit of the candidate must be 17 years but there is no upper age limit. For students of Marine Engineering, the upper age limit is 25 years. Besides, the candidates must score 50% and above in the science subjects along with 30% in English in the H.S Examination. Again Jadavpur University and Calcutta University accept 60% score in the science subjects as well as 30% marks in English.

Application Form Fill Up

To sit for the examination, the candidates have to apply online. The online forms are usually available from the end of December. They get a month-long time to submit an application. For online application, they must have a valid mobile number and a unique email id. In the application form along with personal details and qualifications, they also need to upload a scanned photo of themselves and signatures. The application fees can be paid through Credit or Debit Cards or through bank challans of Allahabad Bank. Then, after the last date of submission of forms, they will get a chance for rectification (if any) for a very short period of time. So to fill up the form the candidates must read the instructions carefully and remain very cautious.

WBJEE Admit Card

Usually, WBJEE Admit cards are uploaded online a week before the examination. The candidates are asked to download the WBJEE Admit Cards for themselves. They have to produce the hard copy of the WBJEE Admit Card at the examination hall. After the examination, they are asked to keep the WBJEE Admit Card in safe custody. In case of a loss of the admit card, the candidate can request the WBJEEB to issue a duplicate admit card against a payment of Rs. 500/ for processing fee.

WBJEE Exam

Usually, the WBJEE is held in the month of May. It is held offline for the duration of two hours for each paper. Paper 1 is held from 10 am.-1pm and paper 2 is from 2 pm- 4 pm. The questions are all MCQ types. For each question, there are 4 options and candidates have to choose the correct answer and circle the option with a black ballpoint pen. The answers are provided on the OMR Sheet. If the students require rough calculations, they can do so on the Question Booklet. Before choosing the right answer, they must be a hundred percent sure because the answers once are chosen cannot be changed or erased.

WBJEE Result

WBJEE Result is declared one month after the examination. The answers are checked on the computer. Prior to the publication of WBJEE Result, the model answer keys are uploaded online, so the students can check their own answers. They can also challenge any answer by logging in their password. Along with the WBJEE Result, the merit cards are issued by the WBJJEB. It contains the score and rank of the candidate. Then the candidates are admitted following their ranks in the WBJEE. With the help of their login ID and password, the students can see their WBJEE Result and download the merit card.

WBJEE Cut Off

WBJEE Cut Off mark is the minimum score a candidate must obtain for appearing in the counselling and thereby for securing admission in different engineering and technology colleges. However, the Cut Off score varies from college to college. However, the WBJJEB declares Cut Off score in both the papers. If the candidate appears for the examination in both the papers and scores above Cut off marks, he will get General Merit Rank (GMR) and if he appears for paper 2 only, and scores above the Cut Off marks, he will get Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR). The candidates are then called for counselling to lock their seat in the prestigious engineering and technology colleges.
